The „Hotel zur Post“ was built in 1870, and was at first an extension of the Kurhaus (now Hotel Europe). The Posthotel itself was first finished in the summer of 1871. It was a simple gabled house and was established for Hans Petert Büsch, the first Hotelier in Davos. It was the first hotel to install central heating.

In 1872 more rooms was developed at the Posthotel, an old annexed place of the hotel was converted into a beer hall (now the Pöstli Restaurant). In 1886 the hotel hat 15 rooms, some with balconies. The dining room had space for 30 people.

The garden was unusually large fort the time and had a pavilion. Rooms cost between CHF 5.- and CHF 8.- for a night’s half board. At this time the Posthotel was a storey higher and had a flat roof.

Major Toni Morosani (Toni I) , who’s jobs had included postman and coal seller, bought the hotel in 1906 as a wedding present for his son Toni Morosani (Toni II) and his bride Berta Morosani Sulser.

The 1920s saw more building and restorations such as cold running water in the rooms and in some cases even a bath. After the early death of her husband, Bertha Morosani took over the running of the hotels with the help of his son Toni (III), who was at that time director of the Belvedere Hotel.

Concerts, dancing and billiards were attractions at the visitor and tourists of the “Hotel zur Post” with a large scale of entertainment and dining events, as it was then advertised. In the Summer of 1967 the “Pöstli” was built and the capacity of the hotels substantially increased. Both buildings (Posthotel und Pöstli) were joined by a tunnel (pathway). The Casa Poschiavo was built 1974 and is likewise joined to the two other buildings by a pathway.

Thanks to the persistence and stamina of this energetic woman, the hotel continued to slowly build its reputation through wars and world crisis years. With this, Bertha Morosani built the groundwork for the “Pöstli’s” continued development.

In 1980 the Hotel Tannenblick, built in 1898 was closed, and taken over as the Pöstli Residenz Apartments. This hotel was a cubic building with a flat roof and overlooked the street. The Pöstli Residenz offers today 20 comfortable Apartments in Grison Style.
